Fire Safety Service Technician

Survitec specializes in the sales, distributions and servicing of aviation, defence and marine safety and life-saving equipment. We are looking to hire a Fire Safety Service Technician for our Delta, BC, Location

Reporting to the Fire Safety Service Supervisor, the Fire Safety Technician is responsible for conducting on-site inspections of fire related products on marine vessels and in commercial buildings

Duties include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Visit customer locations and vessels to conduct assigned service and repair work in accordance with customer requirements and in full compliance with applicable service manuals, bulletins, company policies and procedures
  • Service and Repair work includes, but not limited to:

  • Inspecting fire safety equipment at customer locations

  • Transporting fire safety equipment to / from customer locations for repair, servicing and testing at our Delta location
  • Documenting the use of spare parts to ensure accuracy of inventory.
  • Return and install customer property in a professional and timely matter
  • Keep accurate records during the performance of service work, ensuring complete and proper information flow between service operation and the administration team
  • Ensure Fire Safety Service Shop and company owned tools, equipment and vehicles are kept in a clean, professional and organized condition
  • Inform the Fire Safety Service Supervisor immediately if you become aware of any breakdown in service quality or any health and safety related issue
  • Occasional travel for training purposes and service work will be required

Required Qualifications:

  • Certified or working towards certification through ASTT in the following disciplines
  • Fire Extinguishers (EX)
  • Unit Emergency Lighting (EM)
  • Fire Alarm Systems (AL)
  • Special Fire Suppression Systems (SP)
  • Water based Fire Protections (WA)
  • At least 5 years’ experience in any of the above disciplines is required
  • Experience servicing fire safety equipment on marine vessels is preferred, but not required
  • Physically fit - some heavy lifting is required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a criminal record check
  • Valid passport, or ability to obtain a passport, to attend training outside of Canada where required
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work with mínimal supervision
  • Positive attitude and team player

This is a full time MWBIU (Marine Workers and Boilermakers industrial union) position, offering a competitive hourly wage plus extended benefits after completion of mandatory probation period. This position is based at 1689 Cliveden Avenue, Delta, BC. Standard Work hours are Monday to Friday, 7.30am - 4.00pm
