Summary
- Plans, organizes and directs the economic acquisition of materials, including cost, quality and delivery.
- Key Responsabilities
- Oversee the procurement of materials to support product lines and MRO supplies to meet the business needs
- Develop the plans required to complete the acquisition of components, subassemblies and equipment within the parameters of the Company policies and procedures
- Approve the negotiation of purchase orders within authorized limits; Ensure appropriate methods of purchase order administration are developed and maintained and monitor or participate in major dollar procurement negotiation
- Monitor purchases to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and the most economical price attainment; Resolve major material problems as they arise
- Meet with major vendors to promote the Company’s best interest concerning all matters dealing with the purchase of materials and services and to identify changing market conditions
- Foster and maintain a sound and reliable working relationship with all suppliers and develop metrics to measure and improve vendors’ performance
- Ensure compliance with contractual and customer requirements
- Ensure the coordination of material cost inputs to support the quoting process
- Review the progress of function’s activities and initiate corrective actions as required; Ensure the maintenance of related performance records
- Develop and strategize the utilization of Small Business and Small Disadvantaged Business Plans

- Position Measurements
- Position performance may be measured from a combination of Corporate and Divisional Balanced Score Card Goals which will include but not limited to Financial Performance, Customer Satisfaction, Operational Excellence and Employee Focus.
- Individual position performance goals may be specific to the position, business segment or as it related to an individual’s contribution or employment within the organization.
Position Qualifications
- 4 year degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience as approved by executive management
- 7+ years of experience in commodity purchasing/planning; 3+ years in a leadership role
- Advanced knowledge using Visual Basic and/or SQL
- Understanding of the extended process of material procurement, capacity planning, inventory analysis and advanced planning techniques (demand flow scheduling, vendor managed inventory, etc.)
- Understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools (MAPICS, Baan or equivalent)
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats
- Effective analytical, planning and organizational skills
- Demonstrate ability to maintain strict confidences
- Strong financial understanding, risk analysis ability, relationship building and project management
- Effective interpersonal skills with employees and customers
- Ability to support a 24/7 global business operation as required
- Ability to use discretion and independent judgment when representing the company in supply chain decisions
- Demonstrate strong leadership and people management skills
- Ability to effectively mentor coworkers
- Ability to independently drive solutions to complex planning issues with limited supervision
- Lead, or at least participate in, a continuous improvement activity complete with documentation, including a follow up review with the team in a presentation format
