Charter Yacht First Mate

Role

The role of First Mate shall entail assisting the Skipper in operations, sailing and maintenance of the yacht, whilst on private owner's use or for charter.

You will assist the Skipper in overseeing the safety of the passengers, crew and the boat.

Depending on seasonal requirements, you will be sailing to other locations including but not limited to the Riau islands, Tioman, Langkawi and Phuket.

Duties

You will ensure the yacht, sails, lines and ropes, engines, gen-set and all mechanical and electrical systems are in clean, good working order.

You will assist in the general maintenance required for the upkeep of the yacht, including liaison with 3rd party maintenance providers as required e.g. engine technicians, electricians, overseeing its annual haul out etc.

You will assist in keeping the yacht in optimal condition inside and out and to ensure she is always ready to sail out.

Sailing knowledge and skill is sailing is necessary as you are expected to assist the Skipper with sailing/handling the navigation lines/keeping watch on a sailing catamaran (not motor).

You are required to attend to guests on board, and will be required to assist in cooking, preparing food and serving the guests. However, sailing and safety of guests and yacht will be priority when the sailing is underway.

You are required to assist with keeping track of admin and supplies expenses, servicing, maintenance and expiry dates of equipment on board.

You will abide by all regulatory requirements and assist Skipper with upkeep of yacht as necessary.

Requirements:

• You are required to have at least 5 years of experience working on a sailing catamaran.
• You possess a PPCDL and relevant qualifications.
• Skill and experience based job.
• You have experience working on a sailing yacht with knowledge of handling the sails (not motoring).
• You are familiar sailing within Singapore waters, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.
• You can speak/write English competently. Any additional language/s will be a plus.
• You are able to update records using Microsoft Office software.
• You are good in people skills in order to interact with charter guests and various contacts as required on the job.
• You will reside on the yacht in the marina that the yacht is berthed in; expected to maintain the upkeep of the yacht; work flexible hours, be prepared to work weekends, public holidays and overnight when required for charters and owner's use.
