We are recruiting Clinical Externs to join our SickKids teams* *starting in May and July.

Here's What You'll Get to Do

• Work as an unregulated care provider under the supervision of Registered Nurses or Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide child and family-centered care
• You will assist the Registered Nurse or Registered Respiratory Therapist in developing and implementing a plan of care in collaboration with the patient, family caregivers and the inter-professional team
• Work as a fixed-term contract of 0.8FTE (16 shifts in a 6-week period) to start the summer months and then 0.3FTE (6 shifts in a 6-week period) during the academic year

Here's What You'll Need

• Completion of a minimum of 50% of an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy, Masters of Science in Physiotherapy, or Respiratory Therapy Diploma program. (i.e., Entering the second last or final year of the program).
• Successful completion of a previous acute care paediatric placement is preferred, however, not required
• A current BCLS certificate.
• Intention to become registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario, College of Respiratory Therapists on Ontario, College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario, or the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, upon graduation and are interested in employment opportunities at the Hospital for Sick Children.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have demonstrated your ability to utilize critical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork abilities.
• Comfort building relationships with other clinical team members, patients and family caregivers.
• Skill in time management and managing multiple competing demands.
