Bilingual Head of Middle School (Academic)

The new Head of Middle School at Lennen Bilingual School will bring deep middle school experience, analytical thinking and planning, high emotional intelligence, and excellent communication skills to the role.

The Head of Middle School is responsible for the academic progress and general welfare of all students in grades 6 through 9. The Head of Middle School will also be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs and curriculum in order to ensure that students are meeting all educational standards. In addition, the Middle School Principal will be responsible for hiring, training, and supervising all faculty and staff members. The Head of Middle School will also be responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships with parents, and the community.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring that the school is running smoothly by monitoring student progress, teacher performance, attendance rates, and other factors
  • Developing and implementing policies, procedures, and rules for the school, including disciplinary procedures
  • Communicating with parents about their child’s academic progress, discipline issues, and special events
  • Establish and maintain a safe, orderly, and inviting learning environment
  • Develop and implement curriculum and instructional programs that challenge and engage all students
  • Assess curriculum and program, working collaboratively with teachers to make changes and improvements where necessary.
  • Select, train, motivate, and evaluate a high-performing faculty and staff committed to the success of every student
  • Providing guidance to teachers on how to handle disruptive students and other classroom issues
  • Foster positive relationships with families and the community to support student success
  • Manage budget resources effectively to achieve school goals
  • Help to attract, recruit, and retain a talented and diverse faculty.
  • Monitor student progress and intervene when necessary to ensure student success
  • Oversee compliance with all French state education regulations
  • Model exemplary behavior and ethical conduct at all times

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bilingual (English/French)
  • Master’s degree in educational leadership or related field
  • Teaching experience, with experience in a leadership role
  • Proven track record of successful school administration
  • Strong understanding of current educational trends and best practices
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Valid working papers are required.

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of teaching experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role

Experience as a middle school principal or assistant principal
