City Experiences is seeking a Food & Beverage Manager for our City Cruises operation in Gananoque.

About the Opportunity:
The *Food & Beverage Manager *is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service while managing and controlling the Food & Beverage operations on land and vessels including all charter and special events. Responsibilities also include all operations of safe and exceptional food service delivery in a variety of settings - bar, cocktail receptions, weddings, and special events.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of the F&B department, including presentation, guest service, cleanliness, and adherence to appropriate food safety guidelines (federal, provincial, and local)
- Lead, execute and ensure the success of private charters, and special events including weddings, cocktail receptions, and social events
- Maintain highest standards of safety for guest and F&B crew
- Develop and execute programs that improve the level of service and product quality
- Track, analyze, and report data related to production and beverage sales as needed
- Maintain food and beverage product and service standards to exceed quality experiences for our guests
- Supervise and manage functions thoroughly and consistently; leading and directing the F&B crew to create amazing guest experiences
- Order all beer, wine and liquor to ensure par levels are maintained without creating overage or excess stock
- Ensure monthly and quarterly inventories are completed timely, efficiently, and accurately inputted
- Ensure sanitation standards are followed by all F&B crew, adherence to all provincial health & safety regulations
- Stay up to date on innovative trends in F&B industry
- Ensures F&B crew is prepared for regular service and less frequent services (deep cleaning, kitchen equipment)
- Collaborate with other departments, as needed, to ensure food is delivered safety to all vessels
- Expert knowledge of, and adherence to, all food and beverage regulations
- Follow all safety policies, department policies, and service standards
- Work with a safety mindset by ensuring that employees follow all safety policies and procedures. Takes overall responsibility and accountability for the prevention of work-related injuries and/or illness by identifying and communicating risks, hazards, and opportunities on the job. Provides necessary measures (i.e., PPE) and allocates resources to keep the workplace safe.
- Lead by example; maintain highest level of professionalism, integrity, and strong work habits
- Holds employees accountable for consistent guest service and engagement
- Provides and communicates pre-shift meetings to Kitchen and Restaurant Managers to be delivered to F&B crew
- Develop strong teamwork within the F&B crew
- Assist with interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, and professional development of all F&B crew
- Help develop and execute F&B crew incentive programs
- Maintain good working relationships with other departments (marine, sales, administration)
- Meet or exceed the required standards within agreed budgetary limits and parameters of the law, particular liquor law
- Works closely with Director of Operations to develop revenue ideas for F&B
- Works closely with Director of Operations to ensure overall profitability of F&B department
- Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings
- Operate all restaurant systems (point of sale, inventory/purchasing system, etc.)
- Reconcile onboard and restaurant cash and credit sales with point-of-sale system
- Review timekeeping records for each shift to ensure accuracy
- Create schedule for F&B FOH ensuring proper staffing with budgeted guidelines
- Work with Kitchen Manager to ensure F&B BOH schedules meet budgeted guidelines
- Enhances the Gananoque City Cruises’ name and reputation by delivering quality service and adhering to the Employee Handbook
- Provide coverage for Restaurant Manager & Kitchen Manager as needed
- Ambassador and active participant of the Company’s shared values RESPECT and customer service programs
- Volunteer to support and partake in task-force activities that benefit the organization, town/township, RESPECT, customer service programs and other company seasonal/temporary activities
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Operations
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years’ work experience in a customer service-related management role, preferably in a high patron volume hospitality environment
- University or college degree in business administration preferred
- Smart Serve Certification
- Food Handler Certification
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel; good computer skills
- Catering/restaurant background
- Purchasing and costing experience
- Previous management experience
- Culinary/hospitality/management training preferred
