The Innovation Office is leading the University of Basel's activities and initiatives in the areas of entrepreneurship and innovation as part of the University Presidency.
To fulfil our vision, “propelling innovators to achieve impact”, we
1) support start-up ventures on their journey by equipping innovators with skills, the right mindset & a network to succeed;
2) co-create and drive innovation collaborations together with industry partners that tackle complex challenges;
3) focus on international collaboration and impact, in Europe and worldwide.
As we are seeking for several people, your scope will be covering part of the tasks below.
Your position
Your role will be to shape, deliver and expand the start-up incubation programs of the University of Basel with a highly motivated team.
- You will be taking our current acceleration program, “The Propelling Program”, to the next level.
Activities can include:
- deliver and enhance the entrepreneurship course;
- scale up the Propelling Grant;
- expand our “Entrepreneur in Residence” scheme;
- develop and implement workshop matchmaking formats with investors and founders.
- You will be propelled FEMtrepreneurs further
- You will support Start-ups (eg. in life Sciences) within the national and tri-national region
You will play a key role to supercharge connections & collaborations, to improve visibility of successes and strengthen our existing huge network across Basel, Switzerland and beyond.

- formal university qualification (at least Masters level) in any academic field
- minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience (less is possible for a more junior role);
- experience in working with start-ups, in a start-up, and/or with the life sciences or high-tech industry is advantageous;
- a minimum of previous experience and significant willingness to interact with public stakeholders, such as regional, federal and supranational Government offices;
- strong reporting, writing & presentation skills;
- the working language of the Innovation Office is English, however excellent command of either French or German (ideally both) is advantageous for this position;
- openness to travel regularly in the Upper Rhine Valley and occasionally beyond;
- availability to deliver workshops during the evening, with the possibility to flexibly compensate;
