Summary:
DMC is currently looking for an Electrical Apprentice join our team on a contract basis, based in our Sudbury location. The Electrical Apprentice will be responsible for assisting with repairing and troubleshooting various equipment onsite on surface & underground.

Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to interpret electrical plan drawings, control drawings and instrumentation P&ID drawings.
  • Test electrical, electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
  • Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair electrical and electronic control systems and devices.
  • Maintain the work area in a clean and safety conscious manner.
  • Perform preventive checks according to preventive maintenance plans on equipment including hoisting plant, crushers, pumps, conveyors, and other fixed/mobile electrical equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Provide feedback improvement suggestions to the supervisor and planner. Also implement those that are within your ability.
  • Improve equipment availability and efficiency through quality maintenance.
  • Follow DMC policies and procedures.
  • Must follow standard safety operating procedures.
  • Take responsibility for aspects of occupational health and safety, and environmental matters, over which the individual has control, including adherence to all requirements applicable to DMC.
  • Understand and develop a strong commitment to the continued improvement of Health, Safety and Environment.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of College/Vocational or Technical Training, 3rd, or 4th year apprentice.
  • Must be a registered electrician apprentice with the Skill Trades Ontario.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repair electrical and control systems problems in industrial facilities.
  • Field installation, testing and maintaining electrical and control systems for equipment.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Flexibility regarding work activities and type of work requirements and schedule change.
  • The ability to work in a multi-discipline, multi-tasking, team environment.
  • Individual must be motivated, independent, eager Apprentice Electrician with a desire to obtain their Red Seal Certification.
