Onua Bakery is an artisan bakery & café specializing in freshly baked artisanal sourdough and African-style bakery products such as bread, cakes, cookies, meat pies, cupcakes, chips, and other pastries.

As we continue to grow, we are excited to welcome new team members that share our passion for providing the best fresh baked goods! We are looking for two-part time bakers to join the team.

Duties

  • Prepare sourdough bread, African bread, pound cakes, chin chins, meat pies, cookies etc.
  • Dough mixing, cutting, rolling, laying, forming, filling, shaping,
  • Bake the mixed dough and batters
  • Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies
  • Draw up production schedules
  • Ensure that the quality of products meets established standards
  • Operate machinery
  • Organize and maintain inventory
  • Purchase baking supplies
  • May oversee sales of baked goods
  • Responsible for cleanliness, hygiene, equipment and tools maintenance follow up and workplace safety of the production area

Qualifications, Skills, and Conditions:

  • Secondary School diploma or equivalent
  • One year or more in cooking, preferably in a bakery environment, work experience
  • Passionate in cooking and baking, accurate and punctual, good communicator, friendly and teamworking
  • Ability to follow recipes and adjust them to suit different products and customer needs.
  • Ability to measure and document recipes
  • Ability to document processes and procedures.
  • Attention to detail and maintaining high standards of quality.
  • The ability to communicate in French is an asset

Job Types: Part-time

Salary: Depending on experience

Working Wednesday evenings from 4:30 pm to 10:00 pm, Thursday evenings from 7:00 pm to 2:00 pm and Fridays from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm

Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 18-25 per week

Salary: $16.00-$17.00 per hour

  • Ottawa, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

  • Baking: 1 year (preferred)
