BASIC FUNCTIONS

  • To care for and educate the children using Montessori methods or other special education teaching methods as identified suitable
  • Plan and organize implementation of lessons and record progress
  • Meet with individual physical and emotional needs of each child

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Work along with Special Educators, therapists, and specialists on the same plan

  2. To develop skills of the child in music, arts, science, mathematics, English etc as applicable and based on the Individual Education plans (IEP) prepared for each child.

  3. To teach children about the world around them using Montessori techniques and tools or other special education teaching methodology and techniques as identified applicable

  4. Teach exercises in practical life and develop their sensory skills

  5. Ensure safety and security of each child under their care and minimize liability to the school.

  6. Be accountable for all teaching aids and materials issued under their care and for their classes.

  7. Correspond with parents on the progress of each child and suggest techniques for training at home.

  8. Prepare daily teaching plans along with the immediate supervisor, record the progress of each child on a daily basis, and ensure up-to-date filing of all relevant records in appropriate student files.

  9. Carry out periodical review and appraisal of the child’s performance and prepare reports to be presented at parent teacher meetings, or as instructed by the supervisor.

  10. Work as a team with other staff members

  11. Plan and participate in extra curricular activities

  12. Handle other activities as directed by the supervisor and Director.


WORK RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports directly to the Special education program coordinator
  • EDUCATION AND TRAINING
  • Degree holder in Special education, or Graduate in Psychology or Social Work, and related teaching experience with ability to develop the child’s various skills
  • Diplomas related to Montessori training and other specialized programs shall be of added value
  • Experience in handling children with special needs

EXPERIENCE

At least Three years of experience in similar work in similar setting, preferably in a single organization.

Salary: QAR6,500.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Doha: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

  • teaching special needs children: 1 year (required)
