Our client is a construction company looking to find their next EHS/ Safety Director.

Responsibilities:
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directs, supervises, and manages all company safety personnel and subcontractors in the region (including administrative and supporting staff) Conducts meetings, reports to owners and upper management, and directs regional safety program including disciplinary program.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or four-year equivalent degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Science, or related field required.8-10 years of occupational health and safety management experience in a construction environment required.Specific training and safety certifications in the following areas: Advanced OSHA and/or other formal safety training, environmental health, and safety, train the trainer. CHST and CSP preferred.Experience as indicated above in working with insurance carriers and brokers for corporate and project-related safety management, risk management and fleet management tasksPhysical Requirements: Willingness to visit projects and spend time in the field to evaluate site conditions; ability to travel throughout work zones as required to conduct and participate in safety inspections. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.Experience with Owner Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIP) and other insurance programsThorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and company HSE regulationsAbility to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measuresManagement experience must include managing safety professionals on multiple project locationsRequires extensive knowledge of foreseeable construction and public safety hazardsAbility to train and influence all levels of the organization in key company safety training programsExpert and extensive knowledge of current safety policies, programs and requirements, and knowledge of applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.Hazard recognition, corrective actions, root causes and remedial measures.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to conduct training. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong supervisory and leadership skills.Must have proven abilities and skills in leadership and management of people, planning, and delegation of work.

Responsibilities:
Manages a team of safety managers.Collaborates with management (including operations, risk management, fleet management and other divisions) to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures that are responsive to project and other requirements.Complies with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.Complies with company safety programs and requirements, including rules and standards of OSHA and all other safety regulations and requirements for the company.Executes documents as required including HASP’s, policies and programs including safe work plans, JHA’s or equivalent plans as required.Completes and maintains required OSHA logs, recordkeeping, and reporting.Directs competent persons, safety representatives, safety managers and other persons with safety-related duties to effectively manage safety on company projects.Coordinates and works with insurance carriers and brokers of record as necessary.Provides technical support and guidance to the regional and national safety committee and to operations and management.Stops or pauses operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment or members of the public.Identifies safety precautions along with opportunities to minimize or mitigate workplace hazards, exposures, injuries, incidents, accidents, and health problems.Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards as may be required. Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates to training and other programs to ensure that personnel are properly trained for their work.Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations. Reviews accident and incident reports and participates in meetings as required. Performs other related duties as assigned.
