*Application for the post of “Infection Control Nurse” in Tata Medical Center, Kolkata
*Conceptualized in the year 2004 as a philanthropic initiative for the Eastern and North-Eastern parts of India and the
neighbouring countries, the Tata Medical Center (TMC) started operations in Kolkata on May 16, 2011. The hospital is
governed by a charitable trust - Tata Medical Centre Trust. It is an integrated Oncology facility with well-trained
professional staff and equipped with modern facilities and the most contemporary medical equipment. The hospital was
designed by Cannon Design, a renowned architectural firm from North America. It is located on 13 acres of land at New
Town in Kolkata, West Bengal.
The Hospital, with a capacity of 437 beds, serves all sections of the society, with 75% of the infrastructure earmarked for
subsidized treatment for the underprivileged sections. It provides a wide spectrum of services from diagnosis and therapy
to rehabilitation and palliative support. The Institution’s objective is to excel in service, education and research.

To fulfil the above objectives and in order to provide World Class services to its patients, TMC invites

The job description of the post includes:
**Surveillance:
1. Conduct environmental rounds in all patient, outpatient care, critical care areas. Collect data on the incidence
& make it as a graphical representation. Monthly graph and trend graph every 3 month.

  1. Report all in -house patients with communicable disease to the authority & state health department.
    Orientation of staff about the epidemic and preventive staff health.

design & evaluate prevention control strategies.

  1. Conduct on-going surveillance using CDC infection criteria, documentation, Participate in investigations of
    unusual hospital infection outbreak utilizing investigation of nosocomial infections through review of
    admission diagnoses, microbiology culture results, isolation orders, patient records & the microbiology
    department & other departmental members of the infection control committee.

  2. Regularly compiles & interprets surveillance to the Infection control committee.


**Education:
1. Plans, organizes, implements, evaluates educational programs for different group of employees & increase
their knowledge, skill & awareness about hospital associated infections & preventive measures.

  1. Conduct regular training sessions to ensure consistent implementation of Infection prevention control
    practices.

  2. Develop educational materials useful, relevant & easily understood by both clinical & non clinical staff
    members

  3. Taking regular tests or other measures of evaluation to assess knowledge and skill in the field of infection
    control.

Administration-

  1. Updating CDC guidelines in day to day activities of Infection control.

  2. Maintain compliance with standards of regulatory bodies & promote best practice.

  3. Assist with accreditation survey preparation as & when required.

  4. Recommend & evaluate procedure/ policies relating to infection control within the hospital.

  5. Participates in infection control committee team meetings.

  6. Take active part in quality improvement by assessing, measuring, monitoring HCAI rates & evaluating
    outcomes on a continuous basis.

  7. Monitoring the house keeping activities.

  8. Arranging procedures to modify SOPs and circulate it within the nursing colleagues.

  9. Giving round alternatively morning and evening time to ensure universal practices in all nursing aspects.

  10. Attend clinical meeting, arranges regular class for the nursing staff.

  11. Complies with guidelines for absence from duty


Research-

  1. Take active part in conducting different research activities time to time based on the data gathered &
    collected.

  2. Retrospective evaluation of effectiveness of different activities and send for publication.


Audit-

  • Conducting different audits based on different procedures like hand washing, aseptic protocols & other
    protocols etc
  • Organizing audits for each month, circulating it within the audit committee and monthly reports on audits.

Essential Qualifications:

  • BSC Nursing,

Experience: Post-BSc Nursing, Minimum 2 years of experience at bed side as Infection Control Nurse
in an Oncology set up hospital.
