The Australian Government is investing into flood warning infrastructure in Australia's highest flood risk areas.
Investment of >$230 million of the next ten years will enable the Bureau to simplify ownership and maintenance of high-priority flood warning assets by acquiring, upgrading and integrating more than 1,500 key local government owned, and some state government owned, rain and river level gauges in high priority areas into its existing flood warning network across Australia.
The Bureau seeks a high performing Technical Lead to coordinate the various projects that will be undertaken. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to and shape the work of the Bureau of Meteorology and the emergency response capacity of the nation.
To be successful in this role, you will have a solid understanding of operational flood forecasting and an excellent understanding of the total flood warning system as well as flood warning networks with the ability to synthesise and analyse information using geospatial capabilities.
You will be able to demonstrate a proven commitment to excellence in collaboration, negotiation and building partnerships and relationships with both internal and external customers and stakeholders. The role will require the occupant to lead the delivery of technical catchment assessments and work seamlessly with colleagues across multiple Groups and Programs (Business Solutions, Community Services, Enterprise Services and Data & Digital) on the remediation of the national flood warning network.
