Blossom Community Center is actively seeking compassionate individuals to join our team as In-Person and Online Befrienders. This is a unique opportunity to connect with the most vulnerable members of our community, providing genuine companionship and support.

Responsibilities:

  • Build Meaningful Connections: Engage with individuals facing isolation and vulnerability, both in person and through online platforms, with a genuine passion for fostering connections.
  • Offer Emotional Support: Provide a listening ear, empathy, and emotional support to those going through challenging times. Help alleviate feelings of loneliness and isolation by sharing happiness and love.
  • Create a Sense of Belonging: Foster a strong sense of belonging and community by organizing small group activities, discussions, or virtual meet-ups to promote social interaction and camaraderie.
  • Language Diversity: Ability to communicate in multiple community languages, ensuring inclusivity and effective communication for those who may not be proficient in the primary language.
  • Provide Information and Resources: Offer information and connect individuals to relevant community resources that can assist with their specific needs, all while radiating positivity and confidence.
  • Flexible Engagement: Tailor interactions based on the unique needs and preferences of each individual, whether it's in-person visits or virtual check-ins, always bringing a warm and loving presence.

Qualifications:

  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to speak multiple community languages.
  • Understanding and sensitivity to the challenges faced by vulnerable populations.
  • Genuine passion for bringing happiness, confidence, and love to those in need.

Time Commitment:
This is a flexible role with a commitment of 2-6 hours per week, accommodating the availability of volunteers. Blossom Community Center values the time and dedication of our volunteers.

Job Types: Part-time, Volunteer

Salary: £5.00-£10.00 per year
