Senior Early Years Practitioner

Poppies Child Care are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Senior Early Years practitioner to join their nursery team.

This is a permanent position of 37.5 hours per week during the term time only. Monday to Friday 8:30-4:00

Additional hours available as required which may include school holiday periods

Applicants must be passionate about working with babies and young children and hold a full and relevant level 3 early years qualification. Experience of working with and caring for babies and young children within the 0-4 age group is essential and experience within a senior role is desirable

Poppies Child Care is a small, home from home nursery where children and families are at the heart of everything. Applicants must share this vision as well as be caring and confident in their approach to children’s play, learning and development and most importantly have a passion for the unique care and learning needs of babies, toddlers and young children

Essential qualities:

  • A minimum level 3 early years qualification which is full and relevant according to the DfE to be included in adult:child ratios
  • Commitment to helping children thrive and get the best start in life
  • Excellent knowledge of child development
  • Practical knowledge and understanding of the EYFS Curriculum and Statutory Framework
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding training
  • Able to work as part of a team, leading and supporting practice within the EYFS
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal, written and computer literate
  • Able to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for children in the early years
  • Create a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow
  • Provide individual care and support to meet the needs of each child
  • Work closely with nursery Senco in supporting children with additional needs
  • Foster positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues
  • Observe and assess children's development and progress
  • Collaborate with parents to promote children's learning and well-being at home
  • Maintain accurate records of children's attendance, progress, and incidents
  • Complete an DBS check
  • Provide a minimum of two references
