JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for ensuring that the organization's supply chain and operations are compliant with relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and policies. The Senior HSE Officer will work closely with internal stakeholders to develop and implement HSE strategies and initiatives that promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
HSE Strategy
- Develop and implement HSE strategies and initiatives that promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship within the supply chain and operations department.
Compliance
- Ensure that the organization's supply chain and operations are compliant with relevant HSE regulations and policies, including local, state, and federal regulations.
- Risk Management
- Identify potential HSE risks within the supply chain and operations department and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
Training and Development
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees within the supply chain and operations department, ensuring that all employees are aware of HSE policies and procedures.
Audits and Inspections
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of the supply chain and operations department to ensure compliance with relevant HSE regulations and policies.
Incident Management
- Develop and implement incident management procedures for the supply chain and operations department, including investigation, reporting, and corrective actions.
Reporting
- Prepare and submit regular reports on HSE activities and outcomes to the HSE Manager.
Span of Communication
- Internal: Managers, Head of Departments, Supervisors
- External: Local authority, Fire Brigade, Municipality, Third Party Safety advisors and trainers, Accreditation bodies, Materials Suppliers / vendors
Job relevant information (BOUNDARIES & DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY)
- Enforce the company’s HS & E regulations and issue NCR’s in case of non-compliance and ask for appropriate and timely corrective actions.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field required; master's degree preferred.
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HSE, with at least 2 years of experience in a leadership role.
Job-Specific Skills:
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and policies, particularly as they relate to the manufacturing industry.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement HSE strategies and initiatives.
- Proficient in using relevant software and technology, such as Microsoft Office and HSE management systems.
