We are seeking a specialist teacher aide for a permanent position, starting 11 March or by negotiation. The position is 31 hours 15 minutes per week, 0845 to 1530 including a 30 minute unpaid break, Monday to Friday, term-time only.
The position requires an outgoing, caring individual who is happy to work with students (in one-to-one situation or in small groups) within or alongside the mainstream class.
This role will primarily be working closely with students funded by the Ongoing Resourcing Scheme (ORS), which provides support for students with the highest ongoing levels of need to enable them to attend school, join in and learn alongside other students at school.
- Carry out learning activities with a student
- With the classroom teacher, use agreed strategies to manage student’s behavior
- Work with the student and other students to boost learning, independence and social skills
- Take over full classroom management duties on occasion to allow the classroom teacher to work directly with the nominated student
- For students with special health or physical needs, assist with tasks like medications, feeding, toileting, moving around the school and keeping records of these things where required
- Other reasonably requested duties as required
Applicants must have working rights in New Zealand.
Pay rate will be as per the Support Staff in Schools' Collective Agreement and will be between $28.10 and $28.85 per hour (commensurate with specialist qualifications and experience) plus any applicable allowances.
