Reports to:The Manager.

Location:In this position, you willcover theDún Laoghaire Rathdown area in Dublin. Our office is based in Dún Laoghaire, but our team largely works remotely. You will need to be available to travel to locations across our county to attend meetings, trainings and manage volunteers at different locations, across Dún Laoghaire Rathdown (DLR). Occasionally, you may need to travel to other locations in Dublin.

Probationary Period:Six Months

Salary: €35,000 - €40,000 (depending on experience)

The Role

We are excited to be recruiting a Community Volunteers & Programmes Co-Ordinator to join our team. This role involves leading impactful projects that develop volunteering, support inclusion and create meaningful opportunities to get involved locally. In this role, you will:

  • Lead the development and management of an events-based and urgent community response volunteering initiative - DLR Community Volunteers. You will work with our team, local organisations and volunteers to respond to needs in the community. You will be responsible for:

  • Recruiting and managing a team of volunteers in response to local asks.

  • Liaising with organisations, developing meaningful volunteer roles and promoting the value and impact of the initiative.
  • You will support new arrivals to our county to start volunteering with different projects and facilitate their involvement in the Community Volunteers programme.
  • You will also be part of our Organisations Team, working to support Organisations across DLR to develop new roles and involve volunteers locally.
  • Work with the team on other projects, as required.

Key Areas of Work

Project Management

  • Manage the development of the DLR Community Volunteers and other programmes that promote and develop volunteering in the DLR area.
  • Develop meaningful programmes that engage new arrivals to our county, working closely with people seeking International Projection.
  • Develop diverse, impactful and achievable roadmap of events for the year.
  • Project manage the day-to-day operations of the DLR Community Volunteers, including all communications with volunteers, organisations and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor, review and report on the activities of the Community Volunteers and other projects.

Community Volunteers - Volunteer Management

  • Work with local organisations to develop volunteer role descriptions and meaningful roles for volunteer engagement.
  • Advertise and recruit volunteers for specific events/urgent community responses.
  • Interview, reference check, ID check volunteers as needed.
  • Arrange training and information sessions as needed.
  • Be the main point of contact for all volunteers and organisations involved and create suitable communications for all.
  • Use our CRM to manage all volunteer engagements and to capture volunteer placements, shifts, etc to help contribute to relevant reports.
  • Schedule volunteers for events, manage all logistics/comms and provide on-site volunteer management.
  • Be present at events to act as the Volunteer Coordinator of our Community Volunteers and liaise with the event organisers to ensure a positive experience for our volunteers.
  • Build positive relationships with all stakeholders
  • Regularly recognise and celebrate the contributions of volunteers.
  • Regularly review how the Community Volunteers programme works.

Volunteer Involving Organisations (VIOs) - Relationship building and delivery of services

  • Work as part of the Organisations team to develop and maintain relationships with local Organisations.
  • Proactively engage in the strategic development of our service to Organisations, by meeting regularly with the Organisations team and collaborating with the wider team.
  • Contribute to the planning, development, promotion and delivery of activities for VIOs such as capacity-building workshops, networking events, training etc.
  • Ensure Organisations that you’re working with can access any support they need to implement best practice in volunteer management. Tailor this support to reflect individual VIO resources and capacities.
  • Support Organisations to develop opportunities and assist groups to develop attractive volunteer role descriptions and discover new ways to involve volunteers.
  • Share practical tasks across the org team, including responding to queries, managing logistics, social media, comms, collecting feedback etc.,
  • Develop and implement appropriate quality checks for data held on organisations.
  • Regularly review how the Org service is working.

Communications

  • Capture the impact of volunteers through photographs feedback forms to create engaging content that can be used across various mediums, including social media and reports to funders.
