Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Psychologist - 0.8FTE
Location: Taranaki Base Hospital, New Plymouth
- Hawera Hospital, Hawera (occasionally)
- Community
Service: Health Psychology and Persistent Pain Service
Contract: Two-year fixed term, Part time 0.8 FTE (64 Hours per fortnight)
You will work within a supportive team of Psychologists to provide comprehensive assessment and intervention for people inpatient at Taranaki Base Hospital in New Plymouth, and for people in the community who are experiencing persistent pain. You will liaise closely with individuals, families and the multidisciplinary team and develop strong links with community services as required to provide integrated care for individuals. You will have regular supervision and support with continuing professional development.
Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team
Te Whatu Ora Taranaki employs approximately 350 allied health professionals across its services. You will be joining the health psychology team; a friendly team of 3 that is diverse in skills and experience, a team that welcomes collaboration, and that values the contribution of each team member. The wider psychology team has 20 skilled practitioners working in a range of physical and mental health settings.
Moū - About you
- A successful applicant will have been able to demonstrate their ability to be a clear communicator, a builder of connections, and have excellent time management skills. You will be independently managing a caseload of varying complexity and completing assessments with an interprofessional lens. You will be working closely with other health professions.
- You will need to have:
- Registration with the New Zealand Psychologists Board
- The ability to work collaboratively with others to provide integrated care to clients with a diverse range of challenges
- Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and knowledge of working with Māori models of practice
- Ideally, you’ll have at least a year of experience working in a physical health or disability field of practice.
- Working visa/NZ residence (as appropriate).
