Descrição
The Department of Neuroscience includes several research groups working on different aspects of nervous system function, both under normal conditions and in various disease states. Research projects include a broad range of studies on the molecular and cellular levels, networks of neurons, and the organization of the nervous system as a whole. The Department has a flat organization with 40 research group leaders, of which 24 are full professors, and 65 PhD students.
Teaching represents a fundamental activity at the Department, which participates in several undergraduate courses and postgraduate education programs. Each year approximately 15 students receive their PhD from our Department and many of our graduates have gone onto distinguished careers in the academic or private sector.

A postdoc position for understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying the development of chronic pain is available in the laboratory of Saida Hadjab. The research spans from delineating the (epi)genetic of cell state changes associated with pain disorders to ultimately be able to find new targets for treatment and reshape healthy cell state from pain disorders.
Division:
The Hadjab laboratory studies the development, and homeostasis of the somatosensory neurons (Nat Comm 2019, Nat Comm 2020, Nat Comm 2022, Cell Rep 2019, Development 2019, Current Opinion in Cell Biology 2022) and it is located in a collaborative division in the new building BIOMEDICUM at Karolinska Institutet. The postdoc will continue the successful line of investigations based on single-cell RNA sequencing to study pain-sensing neurons plasticity in health and disease.
Duties:
You will combine pain behavioural assessments, histology, dissection, cell culture, intrathecal injection cutting-edge molecular biology, next-generation sequencing, and microscopy techniques, while working in synergy with expert in computational methods approaches. You will also be involved in student supervision.
Entry requirements:
Scholarships for postdoctoral qualification can be established for foreign researchers who place their qualifications in Sweden. The purpose of scholarships for postdoctoral qualification is to promote internationalization and contribute to research qualification after a doctorate or equivalent.
A scholarship for carrying out postdoctoral research can be granted for a maximum of two years within a four year period following the receipt of a doctoral degree or equivalent.
The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish doctorate or higher.
Location: Solna
Type of scholarship:
The amount is tax free and it is set for twelve months at a time, paid out on a six months basis. In exceptional cases, shorter periods may be acceptable.
Application process:
- _ A complete curriculum vitae, including date of the thesis defence, title of the thesis, previous academic positions, academic title, current position, academic distinctions, and committee work_
- _ A complete list of publications_
- _ A summary of current work (no more than one page)_
