Cooks are responsible for preparing and cooking food according to established recipes and standards. They work in various kitchen settings, such as restaurants, hotels, and catering services, contributing to the overall success of the culinary operation.

Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation:Follow recipes and prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping, marinating, and portioning.
Ensure that all food items are fresh, properly stored, and ready for cooking.

Cooking Techniques:Utilize various cooking techniques, such as grilling, frying, baking, and sautéing.
Monitor cooking times, temperatures, and quality of the final dishes.

Menu Compliance:Adhere to standardized recipes and presentation guidelines.
Collaborate with the kitchen team to maintain consistency across the menu.

Order Fulfillment:Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of orders.
Communicate effectively with the expeditor or kitchen lead.

Quality Control:Inspect food products for quality and freshness.
Taste and adjust seasoning as needed to meet quality standards.

Safety and Sanitation:Follow proper food handling, storage, and sanitation guidelines.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and kitchen equipment.

Inventory Management:Monitor ingredient levels and communicate needs to the kitchen manager.
Minimize waste through efficient portion control and storage practices.

Collaboration with Kitchen Team:Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to maintain a smooth workflow.
Assist in other kitchen duties as needed during peak times.

Adaptability:Adapt to changes in menu items, ingredients, or cooking methods as directed by the kitchen manager or chef.
Handle special dietary requests or modifications.

Training and Mentorship:Train new kitchen staff on cooking techniques, menu items, and safety protocols.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior kitchen staff members.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Cook in a restaurant, hotel, or similar setting.
  • Knowledge of cooking techniques, culinary terms, and kitchen equipment.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a kitchen environment.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification is a plus.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Salary: ₦100,000.00 - ₦250,000.00 per month
