Cost Engineer

Position Overview:
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation: Utilize your expertise to accurately estimate the costs associated with various aspects of the town planning project including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead expenses.

Budget Management: Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring alignment with project objectives and client expectations. Monitor expenditures and identify potential cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

Cost Control: Implement effective cost control measures to manage project costs within approved budgets. Regularly track expenses, analyze variations, and provide recommendations for corrective actions as necessary.

Tender Evaluation: Assist in the evaluation of tenders and contracts, providing insightful analysis to support decision-making processes. Collaborate with the procurement team to negotiate favorable terms and conditions.

Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential cost risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on project finances.

Progress Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports on project costs, highlighting key metrics, variances, and trends. Present findings to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

Value Engineering: Proactively identify opportunities for value engineering to optimize project costs while maintaining quality standards and meeting regulatory requirements.

Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure cost-related objectives are effectively communicated and integrated into project plans and schedules.

Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in cost engineering. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cost management processes and methodologies.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in cost engineering, preferably in the construction or town planning sector.

Proficiency in SolidWorks and Microsoft Excel is essential.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Proven track record of successfully managing project budgets and controlling costs.

Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and industry practices related to cost engineering and town planning projects.

Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certification such as Certified Cost Engineer (CCE) or Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS).

Experience with cost estimation software and tools.

Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
