GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide occupational therapy support to clients at REACH. The Senior Occupational Therapist
will perform screenings, assess patient condition, and design therapy and treatment plans
to help the client develop. As a Senior Occupational Therapist, it is also your role to manage,
develop and monitor the standards of any Occupational Therapists also working with
REACH. You should be caring and knowledgeable about occupational therapy conditions and
therapies. Must be experienced and competent in profession and maintain any applicable
license, training, or and certifications.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serve as a team member with REACH and assist with all aspects of occupational
therapy support.
- Work collaboratively with team members and other professionals associated with
REACH to provide student IEP information.
- Communicate appropriately and effectively with team members, parents and other
professionals associated with REACH.
- Develop, monitor and support the working standards of Occupational Therapists
working within REACH.
- Participate in Staff training.
Support services:
1. Knowledge of Occupational Therapy theories, principles, models of practice and
Knowledge in Sensory Integration theory and practices
Knowledge of human development/developmental milestone throughout the life span
Ability to articulate the role of Occupational Therapy in the evaluation, intervention
planning and intervention process
- Ability to analyze tasks relative to areas of occupation, performance skills, activity
demands, contexts, and student factors to implement the intervention plan
- Ability to recognize occupational performance deficits in the areas of personal care,
student role/interactive skills, processing skills, play, community integration, and
written communication
- Skill on gathering screening and evaluation data, completing checklist, histories, and
interviews
- Ability to select, adapt, and sequence relevant occupations and purposeful activities
that support intervention goals

Complete thorough evaluation, including muscle tone, range of motion/mobility,
Perceptive/fine motor skills, sensory motor processing, and functional activities of daily
living
- Educate and demonstrate (verbally or written) therapy techniques to parents or
caregivers that can be incorporated at home
Develop and implement an intervention plan to meet the individual needs of the child
Attend staff meeting, in-service training, and continuing education courses as
appropriate or required
- Participate in staff training on implementation of individual support plans and related
data collection
- Assess and make recommendation regarding the use of adaptive equipment as needed
and provide written justification
- Responsible for timely documentation of evaluation results, daily notes and progress
reports
- Maintain professional competency by attending certified CEU in-services and
workshops
- Keeping detailed records relating to patient conditions, care plans, therapies, and
progress
- Reporting progress and current status to appropriate parties, which may include family
members, teachers, or medical professionals.
Maintain system for recording IEP goals and objectives and behavioral data.
Follow students’ schedule of services
Seek input and maintain effective communication with other therapists and Clinical
Director.
Assist in crisis response strategies of individuals demonstrating harmful behaviors
Maintain client confidentiality
Assist Occupational Therapists and Clinical Director in case management functions and
discharge planning
Report any suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation to appropriate authorities
Perform other duties as assigned
Ensure the health and safety of clients we serve
Eligible to be a mentor for new Occupational Therapists and Behavior Therapists.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum of one year of recent work experience as an occupational therapist
Graduation from an occupational therapy program
Certified Occupational Therapist (OT) by the American Occupational Therapy
Association (AOTA) or Certified Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR) by the
National Board in Certified Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
Maintain valid CPR
Strong understanding of occupational therapy-related conditions, causes, and
treatments.
