Job Title: Arabic Sweet Chef
Job Summary:
The Arabic Sweet Chef is responsible for creating a variety of traditional and contemporary Arabic sweets and desserts, ensuring that all items are prepared to the highest standard. The chef will work with ingredients unique to Arabic cuisine, such as pistachios, dates, semolina, phyllo dough, and rosewater, to create exquisite sweet dishes. This position requires a passion for Arabic culinary traditions, creativity in dessert development, and a strong attention to detail in both preparation and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Dessert Preparation & Cooking:
- Prepare and cook traditional Arabic sweets such as baklava, kunafa, basbousa, ma'amoul, qatayef, and others.
- Create new and innovative dessert items by incorporating traditional flavors with modern techniques.
- Ensure all desserts are prepared in accordance with recipes, presentation standards, and customer preferences.
2. Ingredient Management:
- Source and maintain quality ingredients, ensuring the use of authentic products for Arabic desserts.
- Monitor inventory levels of key ingredients such as nuts, dried fruits, spices, and syrups.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of ingredients to maintain their quality and freshness.
3. Quality Control:
- Conduct quality checks on the final product to ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen to ensure food safety standards are followed.
4. Menu Development & Innovation:
- Collaborate with management to develop seasonal menus featuring a variety of Arabic desserts.
- Experiment with new recipes and techniques to keep the dessert offerings fresh and exciting.
5. Customer Service:
- Occasionally interact with customers to receive feedback on desserts and suggest dessert pairings.
- Ensure all desserts are served in a timely manner and meet customer expectations for taste and presentation.
6. Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other chefs, pastry chefs, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Train junior kitchen staff in the preparation of Arabic sweets.
7. Maintaining Kitchen Equipment:
- Operate specialized kitchen equipment, such as ovens, mixers, and deep fryers, while adhering to safety protocols.
- Ensure all kitchen tools and equipment used for dessert preparation are in proper working condition.
Qualifications:
Education: Culinary school certification, diploma in pastry arts, or equivalent experience.
Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience working as a pastry chef or specializing in Arabic sweets.
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of traditional Arabic dessert recipes and ingredients.
- Creativity in flavor combinations and dessert presentation.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail in both preparation and presentation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
