Job Summary
Responsibilities
- Operate 18 tonne box rigid lorries and other commercial vehicles in compliance with road safety regulations and company policies.
- Plan routes efficiently to ensure timely delivery of goods to clients and distribution centres.
- Load, secure, and unload cargo carefully, ensuring all items are transported safely without damage.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after journeys, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members regarding delivery schedules or any unforeseen delays.
- Adhere to all legal requirements related to commercial driving, including hours of service regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar commercial driving role, preferably with rigid vehicles.
- Valid driving licence suitable for operating commercial vehicles (e.g., LGV or HGV licence). Including CPC.
- Experience with cage loading and securing cargo is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic laws within the UK.
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude when dealing with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing schedules. This position offers a vital role within our logistics team, requiring dedication to safety, punctuality, and excellent customer service standards.
