Lead the creative and cultural heartbeat of the Kāpiti Coast!
Join a team that brings community spaces, connections, and stories to life—through creativity, heritage, and experiences that shape everyday living across our district.
You will be an inspiring and strategic leader, championing the district’s creative energy and cultural identity. Sitting within the Climate Action and Connected Communities team, you will guide the development and implementation of arts and heritage strategies, lead key programmes and projects, and nurture strong sector partnerships that help our communities thrive.
Working 20 hours per week, you will oversee a small, dedicated team, build capabilities across the arts and heritage sector, and steward iconic initiatives—most notably the Kāpiti Coast Art Trail. With a balance of strategic insight and hands-on delivery, you will play a central role in celebrating local creativity, protecting our stories, and ensuring arts and heritage continue to flourish on the Kāpiti Coast.

About you |He kōrero mōu**:
To excel in this role, you will have:
- 10+ years relevant experience in a similar role.
- Positive people management experience
- Relevant arts or heritage tertiary qualification, or equivalent, with experience in research, analysis and report writing
- Effective interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to customer service and willingness to and capability for working with a wide range of people within and outside the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective professional working relationships with all key stakeholders, including with other council staff members based on a collaborative, collegial and cooperative working style.
- Understanding and awareness of tikanga Maori and Maori perspectives.
- Effective time management skills and ability to work effectively without supervision and collaboratively as an effective team member.
- Demonstrated expertise in project management both methodology and practical aspects.
- Demonstrated confidence in working with high profile projects which may attract media interest.
- Holder of a current and valid NZ Drivers’ licence.
