About the Role

We are seeking a caring, patient, and enthusiastic AIM Support Staff member to join our early years team in Maynooth. This role supports the inclusion of a child/children with additional needs within the ECCE setting under the Access and Inclusion Model (AIM).

You will work closely with the Room Leader, management, parents, and external professionals to ensure a nurturing, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised support to a child/children with additional needs in line with their support plan
  • Assist the child to participate fully in daily activities and routines
  • Implement strategies recommended by AIM, Better Start, therapists, or other professionals
  • Support the child’s social, emotional, communication, and learning development
  • Work collaboratively with the room team to promote inclusion and positive behaviour
  • Observe and document progress where required
  • Maintain a safe, stimulating, and supportive environment
  • Liaise respectfully and professionally with parents/guardians
  • Attend relevant meetings, training, and professional development
  • Follow all Tusla, Aistear, and Síolta guidelines and service policies

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum QQI Level 5 in Early Childhood Care & Education (or equivalent recognised by DCEDIY)
  • Genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs
  • Understanding of inclusive practice in early years
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of child development
  • Garda Vetting (to be completed)

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience working with children with additional needs
  • Training in Lámh, PECS, ASD supports, sensory strategies, or similar
  • First Aid, Manual Handling, and Children First training
