The Finance, Property and Procurement team provides high quality, timely and accurate financial and commercial analysis and advice to the Maritime NZ Authority, Chief Executive, Executive Leadership Team and Managers to support robust and well informed decision-making. Finance is responsible for setting the environment for effective financial management and ensuring the assets of Maritime NZ are safe guarded through an effective system of internal controls. Property and Procurement are responsible for procurement advice and services for procuring, purchasing, hiring or leasing goods and services, provision of facilities and property management, vehicle fleet and travel management, and business support services.
Te tunga | The role
As a Finance Officer, youll be part of a team delivering transactional finance services across Finance Operations. While the role contributes to both accounts receivable and accounts payable activities, this position will primarily be responsible for the end-to-end management of revenue transactions, including invoicing, collection, reconciliation, monitoring, and reporting, and for maintaining the systems that support these processes.
Working closely with colleagues across Finance Operations and the wider organisation, youll help ensure revenue processes are accurate, timely, and well-supported. The role involves system oversight, revenue invoicing, debt management, responding to stakeholder queries, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys accuracy, problem-solving, and improving the way things are done, while supporting high-quality public sector service delivery at Maritime NZ.

Were looking for someone who brings:
- Experience in transactional finance, with a strong foundation in accounts receivable, invoicing, and revenue management
- The ability to support broader finance operations activities, including exposure to accounts payable or expense processing
- Confidence working with financial systems and Excel, and the ability to quickly learn new tools and processes
- Strong customer service mindset, with experience responding professionally to internal and external queries.
- High attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- An improvement-focused approach, with an interest in streamlining processes and enhancing system efficiency
- The ability to build effective working relationships across Finance Operations and the wider organisation
- Relevant accounting or finance qualification (desirable but not essential).
