Te Turanga | The Role
Were seeking a Manager, Investment Management to lead the day to day delivery of conduct regulation across New Zealands investment management sector.
In this role, youll lead a highly capable team responsible for supervising a broad range of entities, including managed investment schemes, KiwiSaver providers, discretionary investment management service providers, derivative issuers, crowdfunding and peer to peer lending platforms, as well as custody, registry and funds administration services.
This is a hands-on leadership role. While youll set direction and support strategic outcomes, youll also be comfortable being on the tools - supporting licensing, monitoring and supervision activity, providing technical guidance, and engaging directly with industry. Youll work closely with the Head of Investment Management and leaders across the FMA to deliver efficient, risk-based and outcomes-focused regulation, balancing strong regulatory judgement with pragmatism and proportionality.
Above all, this role is about making a real difference - protecting investors from avoidable harm, lifting standards of conduct, and ensuring the investment management sector does right by the people it serves.

Youre a credible, thoughtful leader who cares deeply about the team and doing the right thing.
You bring strong knowledge of the investment management or broader financial services sector, along with experience operating in, or closely with a regulatory environment. You understand risk-based, outcomes-focused regulation and are comfortable making well reasoned decisions in complex or ambiguous situations.
You are:
- A natural relationship builder, able to engage constructively with your peers internally and the industry externally
- Comfortable working hands on when needed, and switching easily between operational leadership and delivery
- Experienced in leading, coaching and developing people, creating an environment where teams feel trusted, challenged and supported
- Curious and forward looking, with a strong interest in emerging risks, investor outcomes and market trends
- Confident communicating complex issues clearly and effectively, both internally and externally
