Job Title: Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Advisor

Overview

An established organisation operating across construction, infrastructure, and regulated environments is seeking an experienced EHS Advisor to join its Cork-based team. This role will support the delivery of safe, compliant, and high-performing projects while promoting a strong, proactive safety culture across site operations and stakeholder groups.

Key Responsibilities

Site Safety & Compliance

• Support or act in a PSCS capacity to ensure overall site safety performance for direct staff and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with Irish health and safety legislation, construction regulations, and client-specific safety requirements.
• Prepare and maintain Construction Stage Safety & Health Plans, RAMS, SOPs, and associated documentation.
• Conduct incident and near-miss investigations, producing detailed reports and corrective actions.
• Maintain emergency preparedness procedures, including fire safety systems, drills, and response planning.

Auditing, Monitoring & Reporting

• Carry out regular SHEQ audits and inspections, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Liaise with clients, external auditors, and regulatory bodies during inspections, audits, and safety gradings.
• Prepare safety performance reports, dashboards, and presentations for operational and senior leadership meetings.
• Maintain risk registers, safety statements, and preventive control measures.

Training & Culture Development

• Manage training matrices and ensure all statutory and role-specific training requirements are met.
• Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, and certified training programmes (e.g., manual handling, fire safety, people moving).
• Promote a positive safety culture through engagement initiatives and continuous improvement programmes.
• Support supervisors and operational teams in meeting safety responsibilities and audit standards.

Stakeholder & Operational Support

• Build strong working relationships with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to enhance safety outcomes.
• Provide practical EHS guidance to operational management across varied work environments.
• Assist with policy development, procedural updates, and implementation of best practice safety systems.

Skills & Experience Required

• Degree or Higher Diploma in Safety, Health & Welfare at Work or a related discipline (Level 8 or equivalent).
• Demonstrated EHS experience across construction, infrastructure, healthcare, or similarly regulated sectors.
• Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and construction safety requirements.
• Experience supporting PSCS duties, audits, incident investigations, and safety documentation.
• Proven ability to deliver safety training and manage workforce competency programmes.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Strong organisational ability with high attention to detail and proactive problem-solving approach.
• Full clean driving licence.

Desirable:

• ISO audit exposure or involvement in safety management system implementation.
• Instructor-level safety training certifications.
• Experience working with utilities, infrastructure, or live operational environments.
