Role summary
Key responsibilities
- Install, configure and maintain servers (Windows/Linux), storage, and basic virtualization.
- Manage user accounts, permissions and shared folders (Active Directory, file shares, Microsoft 365 etc.).
- Monitor and maintain basic network equipment like switches, Wi‑Fi access points and routers, and solve LAN/WAN connectivity issues.
- Install and manage basic security tools such as antivirus, endpoint protection, and OS patching.
- Assist in managing firewalls and internet security policies under guidance from senior staff or vendors.
- Perform regular backup checks and basic restore tests for important systems and data.
- Keep an inventory of IT assets (PCs, laptops, printers, network devices, licenses) and update documentation.
- Work with vendors/service providers for hardware replacement, warranty calls, and Internet/ISP related issues.
- Respond to IT support tickets and user requests on time, and keep users informed until issues are resolved.
Required skills and knowledge
- 2-4 years of hands‑on experience in IT support, system administration or infrastructure roles.:
- Good understanding of Windows Server, basic Linux, Active Directory, file/print services and basic virtualization (Hyper‑V/VMware or similar).
- Exposure to modern data center and security technologies such as VDI, hypervisors, and hyper converged infrastructure (HCI), and familiarity with solutions from vendors like VMware, Nutanix/Sangfor (or similar), and firewall/security vendors such as Fortinet, Sophos, or SonicWall
- Basic networking knowledge: IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, switching, Wi‑Fi, basic routing concepts.
- Ability to explain technical issues in simple, clear language to non‑technical users.
- Good troubleshooting skills, patience, and a service‑oriented attitude.
Education and certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Networking, or related field preferred.
- Certifications like Microsoft (MCSA/Modern Desktop), CompTIA A+/Network+, or similar will be an advantage.
