Team Leaders - Taj Horticulture Ltd (Bay of Plenty Region)
Taj Horticulture Ltd is currently seeking motivated and reliable Team Leaders to join our orchard management team across the Bay of Plenty region (including Katikati, Te Puke, and surrounding areas).
As a Team Leader, you will oversee orchard teams throughout the kiwifruit growing season and help ensure the smooth operation of daily orchard activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support orchard staff (both permanent and seasonal teams) in daily orchard tasks.
- Assist the Manager in achieving productivity targets and staying within budget.
- Ensure horticultural operations are completed efficiently and produce high-quality results.
- Lead by example — maintaining compliance with all company policies, health & safety standards, and Zespri/GlobalG.A.P. requirements.
- Train and guide team members in orchard best practices.
- Record, check, and submit timesheets and daily job summaries.
- Assist with planning workloads and coordinating seasonal tasks.
- Provide regular performance feedback to management.
Position Details
- Minimum hours: 30 hours per week
- Pay rate: $25 - $30 per hour (based on experience)
- Travel: Work involves travel within the Bay of Plenty region - travel and fuel costs are covered by the employer.
- Start time: From 8:00 AM (occasional weekend work may be required)
Requirements:
- Valid and clean Driver’s Licence
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams effectively
- Physically fit and able to work long hours in all weather conditions
- Willing to work weekends if needed
- Must pass drug and criminal background checks
- Prior orchard or horticultural experience preferred (but not mandatory)
- Good understanding of health & safety practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, hardworking, and passionate about horticulture
