Main Purpose of the Job Role:
To provide administrative and payment support for Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, and Discretionary Housing Payments. Ensure all decisions align with legislation and local policies. Conduct risk-based quality checks, produce performance reports, and collaborate on key-performance data development. Facilitate team training, monitor decision quality, and perform caseload reviews for supported accommodation claims.

Essential Criteria:
Experience:
Five years' experience making decisions and administering Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction.
- Experience in making decisions and administering Discretionary Housing Payments.
- Three years' experience undertaking quality checks, identifying training, and performance issues.
Knowledge:
Good understanding of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction legislation for decision-making.
- Excellent understanding of criteria for supported accommodation claims.
System Proficiency:
Proficient in using the Civica OpenRevenues system.
- Experience using IT systems for accurate information input and retrieval.
Administration and Support:
Experience supporting team members in delivering Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction.
Collaboration and Problem-Solving:

Understanding of confidentiality, safe practice, safeguarding, anti-discriminatory practice, and equal opportunity.

Responsibilities:
- Support Benefits Officers with the administration and payment of claims.
- Ensure decisions align with legislation, local policies, and procedures.
- Conduct risk-based quality checks to identify training and performance issues.
- Produce weekly performance management reports, highlighting accuracy or processing delay concerns.
- Collaborate with the Benefits Team Leader on key-performance data development.
- Ensure team members are highly trained and monitor decision quality, taking action for improvement.
- Undertake a full caseload review of supported accommodation Housing Benefit claims, updating the system per DWP requirements.
