We’re a popular children’s play café that combines specialty coffee, soft play and free play areas, a gift shop, and year-round events. We’re looking for a Play Café Assistant & Party Host to help us create a vibrant space where families can relax, play, and celebrate.

What You’ll Do:
In this hands-on role, you’ll keep the café running smoothly and help make every family’s visit or party unforgettable. Responsibilities include:

  • Opening and setting up the café each day, including prepping the counter area with fresh produce and managing stock flow and food preparation for the
    day ahead.
  • Welcoming families, briefing them and checking them in for play sessions.
  • Being the go-to during the session for spillages, breakages and bubbles (we’ll explain all :)
  • Leading on the preperation and serving of food from our small, but tasty menu and preparing drinks when needed (training will be given).
  • Lead party host: liaising with families, setting up party tables, prepping and serving party food, assisting with music or cake, and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
  • Cleaning, sanitising, and resetting play areas and party spaces.
  • Using the till system to process café and gift shop purchases.
  • Restocking, cleaning, and keeping the reception and play areas tidy between
    sessions.
  • Taking charge of efficient café close-down at the end of the day.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has boundless energy and thrives in a busy, family-friendly environment.
  • Is approachable, enthusiastic, and unflappable, even on hectic days.
  • Has excellent timekeeping, reliability and is a team player, we are a small
    team so every person that works with us is super important and should be willing to pitch in wherever needed.
  • Has relevant experience in hospitality, customer service, or working with
    families (although training will be provided to help hone those skills).
  • Is excited to host and support our celebrations and events and is passionate about helping to create brilliant experiences for local families

Availability:

  • This role requires working a minimum of 16 hours every weekend (Saturday & Sunday).
  • Flexibility to cover extra shifts especially during school holidays or special events is a bonus!
